Fixed Price Application Virtualisation

Application virtualization reduces the cost of testing, installing and supporting applications. Application virtualisation from Point to Point also greatly accelerates application delivery by reducing regression testing and simplifies management with streamlined maintenance, upgrades and de-provisioning.

Fixed price application virtualisation from Point to Point is an industry first from a Citrix platinum partner.

How do we get started?

Below is a simple 3 step process on how we get started and utlimately change the way you deliver and maintain you applications for ever.

Step 1

Point to Point will review your list of applications, which applications are likely to be simple and which ones are likely to be more troublesome. From here we will devise a list of applications which are considered 'in-scope' and the level of priority required for delivery.

Step 2

Next we move onto a data gathering process, here we collect information about each application, what versions are in use, what application dependancies exist if any, what data dependancies exist, where the documentation and media is. At this stage we also request information on who the key users are for initial unit testing

Step 3

Next we get to work on your applications at a fixed rate per app. Each application can be virtualised off-site or on-site depending on the connection required for testing against back-end data. After an initial unit test, each application will be delivered in to a UAT environment ready for key user testing

What is application virtualisation?

A fully virtualised application is not actually 'installed' in a traditional sense, although it is still executed as if it is. A virtualised application is fooled at runtime into believing that it is directly interfacing with the original operating system and all the resources managed by it, when in reality it is not. This approach improves portability, manageability and compatibility of applications by virtualising them from the underlying operating system on which they are executed.

What are the principle benefits?

Acelerated Application Provisioning: Once fully virtualised, applications are encapsulated into a single package that can be launched immediatley on the desktop or from a remote terminal server without the need for installation.

Manageability: Virtualised applications are much easier to manage than traditional applications, because they are never installed, virtualised applications can be removed or upgraded as easy as then can be deployed to servers or desktops.

Compatibility: Virtual applications are independant of each other, this means that multiple versions can co-exist on the same platform reducing risk of application conflicts during rollout.

Business Continuity: Reduce or completely remove any clusters of terminal servers needed to host non compatible applications instead treating your whole infrastructure as one rubust and highly available platform for launching virtualised applications.

What formats do you work with?

Microsoft App-V:  Point to Point are Microsoft Gold Partners, we can provide application packages for delivery through the Microsoft App-V delivery mechanism to both the desktop and server.  We can also provide expert advice on how best to manage the deployment of Microsoft App-V packages in a Citrix or Terminal Services environment.

Citrix XenApp:  Point to Point are Citrix Platinum Partners, our primary focus for applications delivered via Citrix XenApp or Citrix XenDesktop is to consider virtualisation first.  We are absolute experts in this fast growing technology.
